Kiyota Greenhouse was started back in 1959 by brothers John and Henry and their wives, Daisy and Mayrene. They were truck farmers for several years prior and continued to do both for a few more years.
In 1989, John's son Roger and Henry's son Dale joined the company. At that time, the family made the decision to grow just for the independent garden centers. Diversification started as perennials were added as well as many other crops.
The company grew to its present size of around 90,000 sq. ft. of greenhouse space. A few years ago, John and Daisy's daughter Susan joined our management team. Over the fifty years, the Kiyotas have come to know several loyal customers and friends. With the help of their input, the greenhouse has changed some of its product lines as well as pot sizes and varieties. One of these changes was the addition of the Simply Beautiful line of vegetative annuals. The line is very diverse and has had many past and present winners at the C.S.U. Trial Garden.
